The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is getting national attention after winning a photo contest held by the Department of Justice.

The Justice Department's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services is featuring a photo each month that highlights positive community policing efforts across the country.

For the month of August, it is a photo of Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Emily Ball and her K9 partner, Cooper, talking with students at Cordova Villa Elementary school about maintaining healthy lifestyles. You will find it on the COPS department website and social media pages.

The Community Oriented Policing Office started the photo contest last year to highlight positive community policing efforts across the country.
