The race is on to enroll uninsured Californians into the Affordable Care Act before next Monday's deadline.
Special focus is being put on California's Latino population, many of whom are eligible for coverage but may not know it.
Mayra Alvarez with the U.S. Office of Minority Health says more than half of the nation's uninsured Latinos live in California or Texas.
"It's a unique opportunity to ensure the security and peace of mind that comes with health insurance is extended to all eligible Latinos," Alvarez said.
The deadline to enroll in Covered California for this year is one week from today, on March 31.
Those who don't have health coverage could face penalties.
