San Francisco Bay area commuters may have some good news. BART train service should resume this afternoon. KCBS' Chris Filippi reports striking rail workers will be back on the job despite not having a new contract.

The agreement to end the BART strike came after a nearly 12 hour negotiating session. State mediators urged the move, but the two sides still sound far apart on a new contract. The unions have accused BART of failing to negotiate in good faith, a charge strongly denied by the transit agency. Now they have 30 days to come up with a long-term deal, or the strike could be back on.

Wages and health benefits are among the issues keeping both sides apart.
