A Bay Area Assemblyman is leading the campaign to bring "Pink Plates" to California. The "Mercury News" says Assemblyman Paul Fong, whose district includes Los Gatos, San Jose and Santa Clara, is the co-author of Assembly Bill 49.
If it passes, the legislature and is approved by Governor Jerry Brown, 7,500 prepaid applications need to be submitted to DMV before the plates are created. The decorative plates would have a pink background, a ribbon on the left side, and the words, "Early Detection Saves Lives" across the bottom.
