Supreme Court Rules on Voting Rights

Three rulings have been released this morning by the Supreme Court and the last one is about voter rights. The court has ruled Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act is unconstitutional. Its formula can no longer be used as a basis for subjecting jurisdictions to preclearance. The court adds Section 4 is unconstitutional in light of current conditions. In 1966, the formula was rational in both practice and theory.
