California schools and community colleges will soon be getting money from the state.

A report by the Legislative Analyst's Office finds the state collected $2 billion more in tax revenue than expected.

That money will be going to public education because of state funding formula laws.

There's talk about extending Prop 30, Governor Jerry Brown's temporary tax hike, which expires in 2018.

However, the report finds that would not be necessary because there wouldn't be a loss in revenue once the measure expires.
