A 7-year-old Bay Area boy had to be flown to a Sacramento hospital after he was hurt while target shooting on a homemade range in Georgetown.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department, reports the child was using a single-shot .22-caliber bolt action youth rifle with the help of his father.
Despite the fact that no one noticed any ricochets and the guns were always pointed down-range, the 7-year-old at one point grabbed his chest and complained of pain.
According to deputies the father checked and noticed the child's T-shirt had a small hole in it, where the son was bleeding from his chest. The family constructed the shooting range on the property. The child's medical condition is unknown.
