Sacramento Metro Fire officials are on the scene of a school bus accident in Citrus Heights.

A spokeswoman says at least 25 students suffered minor injuries when the bus was rear-ended at a slow rate of speed. Seven have been taken to an area hospital and the rest are being triage. The incident occurred just before 10AM. The children were coming from nearby Arlington Heights Elementary to San Juan High School on a field trip for what's called the Nutrition Olympics. The district will notify parents on how and when to pick up their students. The North and Southbound lanes of Mariposa are shut down at Greenback and Chula Vista for the investigation.
