97-Year-Old Rose Parade Grand Marshal Says Life's Good

The former Olympian and World War II hero picked to be this year's grand marshal for the 2015 Rose Parade says life is pretty good. Ninety-seven-year-old Louis Zamperini says he sometimes laments the fact that he's outlived all of his friends, but its not all bad.

"I think I made up for it. I made a new friend: Angelina Jolie. The gal really loves me, she hugs me and kisses me and I can't complain," he joked.

Angelina Jolie is directing a movie based on Zamperini's life entitled "Unbroken." It's set to hit theaters in December.

Zamperini was an Olympic track and field star before he was drafted into the military and sent to the Pacific during World War II. He ended up surviving 47 days on an inflatable raft in the Pacific Ocean and spent over two years in captivity in Japan.

Tournament of Roses officials say Zamperini's story of survival and perseverance can inspire both young and old and made him a great choice to be the grand marshal for the 2015 Rose Parade.
