A baby bear without a mother is safe and sound after being left on a Tahoe area doorstep.

This little bear cub is estimated to be just ten-weeks old, and she was dropped off at the Bear League on Wednesday night.

"Somebody was compassionate enough to take the time and pick her up and bring her down," Cheryl Millham with the Bear League told News10.

Millham says any number of things could have happened to the mother of this five-pound cub, which has been named Tahoe.

"She could have been killed, gotten too close too a marijuana patch. They kill everything that comes into those," she said.

The hope is that Tahoe can be returned to the wild in about a year's time.
