Authorities have arrested a man wanted in the morning shooting of his co-worker in Rancho Cordova.  The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says the two argued this morning at a land care business before 52-year old Cristobal Chavez pulled a gun and shot his co-worker.  The victim was rushed to a local hospital.

"He was taken into surgery as soon as he was transported and we don't have the latest update outside of he was in critical condition at the time," said Sergeant Lisa Bowman.

Bowman added that Chavez was captured early this afternoon in North Sacramento thanks to photos of him in a Red Honda Civic hatchback.  He's being charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon.  The car and the weapon have also been recovered.

A man is in critical condition after being shot around 7 a.m. in Rancho Cordova this morning.

"There was an employee that had come to work, been involved in some kind of altercation with another employee -- a co-worker," Sgt. Lisa Bowman with the Sacramento Sheriff's Department said.

Bowman says the search is on for the shooter.

"The other employee, which is the suspect in this shooting, has left in a vehicle," Bowman said.

The sheriff's department is calling the incident a homicide investigation. However, Bowman said the victim is currently in surgery and not dead.

The suspect has been named as Cristobal Chavez, 52. He was last seen driving a 1997 Red Honda Civic with California plates 5MUC576. His identity has not yet been released.
