An official with a North Carolina-based aid group says another American health care worker has tested positive for the Ebola virus at the same West Africa medical compound where an American doctor became infected with the often deadly disease.
Ken Isaacs, vice president of program and government relations with Samaritan's Purse in Boone, says a worker with allied aid group SIM is being treated at the hospital near Monrovia, Liberia.
He told The Associated Press the woman, Nancy Writebol, was in stable but serious condition. He says he didn't immediately know her hometown.
Isaacs also Dr. Kent Brantly, the 33-year-old medical director for an Ebola care center located at the hospital outside Monrovia, is stable and in very serious condition. He says Brantly quickly recognized symptoms and sought treatment.
