Apple is expected to unveil something different today in San Francisco at the World Wide Developers Conference.
VentureBeat's Dean Takahashi says Apple is toying with a new initiative.
"There's speculation about Apple entering the smart home monitoring business, just like Google has," he said.
Takahashi says a new Apple update for it's mobile operating system is expected to be the Healthbook app.
It would allow users to track health-related metrics and healthy habits.
The app would likely be a key part of Apple's smartwatch if and when the multi-media giant decides to unveil one.
