Day 2 of the Fix 50 is off to a slow, but nevertheless, smooth start.

At 6:30 the traffic was fairly light, but we've not yet reached major commute times.

Back ups are not as heavy as yesterday morning, but congestion on Eastbound Highway 50 is starting to extend into West Sacramento. Stop-and-go starts at about Jefferson, is slow through the construction zone, and speeds up again around 21st Street.

KFBK Reporter Tim Lantz is driving through the project and he says taking Highway 80 East and then coming back down Interstate 5 is his recommended route for getting into Downtown Sacramento.

Officers will be monitoring traffic at key intersections in Sacramento and West Sacramento.

The project appears to be off to a good start, with no major problems reported Tuesday, just the expected traffic back ups.
