It's the final piece of the puzzle for a new arena. The city of Sacramento has won an appeal in its eminent domain case.
The city now has a firm hold on the site of the former Macy's Men's store at Downtown Plaza after an appellate court rejected a push back from its owners.
The city first won control of building last month and the Kings will pay for it. Under eminent domain rules there will be a jury trial.
"And the jury will make a determination on fair compensation for the property," Assistant City Manager John Dangberg said.
Dangberg says we'll see environmental studies completed, contracts finalized and bonds sold by mid-May.
"And in June, physical demolition," he said.
Arena construction is slated to begin this fall, it's supposed to open in 2016.
