A Sacramento-area convict has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old girl, holding her for a month and forcing her into prostitution.

Last month, Redding Police began an investigation into claims by the teen that she was being held against her will. She identified her captor as 25-year-old Melvin Baldwin-Green Jr. An investigation revealed that Baldwin-Green had allegedly taken the girl as she was walking home from a party in Sacramento.

She says she was held in an apartment which had locks on the doors and the windows. Baldwin-Green was taken into custody yesterday. He faces a list of charges, including kidnapping and human trafficking of a minor. Baldwin-Green has prior charges related to prostitution.

The girl is back in Sacramento with her family.
