At least five people are dead after tornadoes touched down late today in Mississippi and Alabama.

In Mississippi, the Lee County coroner says one person died outside of Tupelo when their vehicle either hydroplaned or got blown off the road.

A spokesman for the University of Mississippi Medical Center says two other people were killed in Winston County.

In Alabama, the Limestone County sheriff says two people are dead after a twister touched down just after 5:40 p.m. local time.
