Posted August 21st, 2014 @ 8:10am by KFBK News

An American doctor who became infected with the Ebola virus while treating people in Liberia is being discharged from an Atlanta hospital today.

Dr. Kent Brantly will be traveling to an undisclosed location to be with his family. Brantly contracted the deadly virus last month.

There's also word that today that missionary Nancy Writebol has already been discharged from Emory University Hospital following her treatment for the potentially-deadly virus.

A doctor at the hospital that treated two American aid workers who were infected with the deadly Ebola virus in Africa says their discharge poses no public health risk.

Dr. Bruce Ribner, medical director of the infectious disease unit at the hospital, said at a news conference that their release did not pose a public health risk.

At the news conference, Brantly said it is "a miraculous day."
