A man is in custody today after car-jacking a car in Rio Linda this morning.

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department got a call to assist the CHP in a possible carjacking in the 7000 block of Elder Street around 7:20 a.m.

An investigation revealed a man in his 30s broke into a locked vehicle in the driveway.

The owner of the car confronted the suspect, who ran away.

He then broke into a second vehicle and started driving away when the first owner tried to stop him.

As a result, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed the stolen vehicle at Elverta Road and 9th Street.

He was taken into custody with minor injuries to his leg.
