Audit Points to Problems at Two Northern California VA Facilities

The internal audit by the Department of Veterans Affairs points to problems at two Northern California VA facilities.

The audit identifies the VA clinic in Yuba City and the VA hospital in Livermore as needing further investigation.

Specifically, the relatively new Yuba City facility is said to have an average wait time to see a doctor of about six weeks, when it should be only be two weeks.

NorCal VA Regional Director David Stockwell tells News10 that's because it's a growing clinic.

"We're just adjusting the size of the providers and the number of patients we can assign to the clinic and they caught us at a moment where we hadn't quite had supply catch up with demand,"

We should note wait times for specialty VA appointments in California is the lowest the in Sacramento area.
