Authorities are stepping up their search for a man who kidnapped a girl from a home in Carmichael over the weekend.

The abduction is now "Priority Number One" for Sacramento County Sheriff's detectives.

Sergeant Lisa Bowman says Deputies are going door to door in Carmichael this afternoon, again looking for clues to help them identity the man who entered a home on Adelaide Way around 3 a.m. Sunday and took a child against her will.

"She was awakened by a person who put his hand over her mouth and picked her up and carried her out of the back of the house, over a fence, into a wooded area," Bowman said.

The girl was later released and found her way home.  Other than scrapes and scratches from going through the woods, the girl appeared to be unharmed:

"It's certainly concerning for anybody who has small children, anyone who lives in the area, again because we have not identified who this person is and what his intent was," she said.

Authorities are looking for a clean-shaven white man, in his late teens to early 20's with short, combed-back, brown hair and dark brown eyes.

He stands between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet tall and has "healing" acne marks on his face.

If you recognize him, you're asked to call the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
