Sacramento's Soccer Team is delaying the opening of their new stadium for two more weeks.

The Sacramento Republic FC is now setting June 20 for their first match at Cal Expo.

"Bonney Field is probably still going to be completed and finished in that first week of June, which was kind of our original timeline and goal. I think for our own comfort level, we're cutting it a little close. The last thing we want to do is come down to the wire and have to make changes for our fans at the last minute," said Erika Bjork.

Bjork, with the Republic, says that means the June 7 match will be played at the 20,000 seat Hughes Stadium at Sac City College.

While the team sold out its opener and more than 17,000 tickets for Saturday's game, the new Bonney Field will hold just 8,000 fans.

Bjork says the new facility will have a regulation-size soccer pitch on grass which will help the team achieve it's goal of becoming a Major League Soccer franchise.
