Two brothers who have spent time in the California legislature have been fined $40,000 by the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Commissioners unanimously accepted an administrative law judge's recommendation that Senator Tom Berryhill of Twain Harte and his brother, former Assemblyman Bill Berryhill of Ceres, be fined for improperly transferring that same amount of money between their campaigns.

At the time of the transfers, Tom Berryhill was seeking re-election while Bill Berryhill was running to represent a neighboring Assembly district.
