In order to get you from Northern to Southern California in just a few hours the bullet train has to leave the station.

High-speed rail officials have been saying they would get started on the first phase of construction for bullet train's initial 29-mile section from Madera to Fresno no later than September 22nd. It's clear that's not going to happen, especially since the state still has to aquire more land and finish some design work.

Then, there are two lawsuits pending that halt the project. One of those is supposed to be heard in court next week but the other isn't scheduled for a hearing until November.
