There's an old saying "Make hay while the sun shines."  Now, the farm bureau wants to save water while it rains.

California Farm Bureau President Paul Wenger says the time for action is now in order to capture the rain when we get storms.

"Somebody has gotta take the bull by the horns, and have the authority to say, you know what?  There's extra water here in the delta, we're gonna take advantage of these flows, these very late seasonal rains, and we're gonna grab that water while it's there," he said.

Wenger says that approach will help avoid previous situations where we've lost water because of operational constraints.
