In the wake of three consecutive DRY years, California Firefighters are putting a special focus on safety and preparedness during "Wildfire Awareness Week."
Cal Fire Officials are being joined by state, local and federal "fire and emergency officials" this week to remind us that this could be an active fire season.
With vegetation critically dry, Cal Fire Chief Ken Pimplott says a safe summer will take a dual effort. 'We are prepared - we want the public to be prepared. Just like we say every year, 95 percent of fires are started by people and that means 95 percent can be prevented,' says Pimplott.
Cal Fire will again partner with the National Guard and Forest Service to keep you safe.
Cal Fire encourages preparedness planning that includes defensible space and an evacuation plan.
