It's modest growth, but its growth.  California's unemployment rate continues to fall.

The state added 13,000 jobs in December, not the strongest of gains but enough to push the unemployment rate down to 8.3%.  The four-county Sacramento area has seen its jobless rate drop to 7.6%, down from 9.7% percent in December of 2012.

"We saw 5 of 12 industries in positive territory lead by leisure and hospitality," said George Marley with the Employment Development Department.

Marley added that there was a surprise; local construction added 700 jobs.

"You know, obviously with the weather being as dry as it's been people have just taken the time to do some improvements," he said.

On the bleaker side, this drought could affect state farm jobs down the line.
