CalTrans will reimburse the city of Sacramento for the cost of managing congestion during the upcoming Fix 50 project.
A 1.3 million dollar payment will cover traffic management that will include on-duty police officers and changing the timing of area signals as necessary.
Sacramento Traffic Engineer Hector Barron says eight additional traffic cameras will also be installed. He says, 'Currently we have about 90-plus cameras throughout the city so in analyzing the project, we felt that there's some additional cameras that are needed to give us better coverage of some of those key corridors.'
Traffic officials are currently evaluating the project to determine areas where significant congestion will occur so they can be addressed in advance.
