Candlestick Park will stay open for another year.
The "San Francisco Chronicle" says the city will keep the stadium fully staffed as they try and line up a series of closing events which could include a possible farewell concert by Paul McCartney.
The Stick will be turned over to Lennar Corporation after the final event and be transformed into a mix of retail, housing and entertainment venues.
The company hasn't decided on whether they will dismantle the stadium or implode it with dynamite, but says the demolition date will probably be early in 2015.
