The 33-year-old who ran over and killed a man and his four dogs and seriously injured a woman in Carmichael two years ago has been sentenced to 25-years-to-life in prison.
Paul William Walden received the maximum sentence in the death of 21-year-old Harrison Long-Randall, a Del Campo High graduate.
He died 13 days after being hit while crossing a street with his girlfriend, Gemily West.
Jurors found Walden had returned to the area from a trip to North Carolina and was either under the influence of heroin or looking for some at the time of the collision.
One witness estimated he was traveling more than 70 miles per hour through residential streets.
