The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate last week's incident involving a woman captured on video being tackled and punched repeatedly in the head by a CHP officer on the Santa Monica Freeway.
Authorities say the incident began when the officer tried to stop 51-year-old Marleen Pinnock from walking in-and-out of traffic on the eastbound 10 at the La Brea Avenue onramp in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles.
Attorney Caree Harper represents Pinnock's family.
"The focal point of what she did on the freeway is simple, she got beat. She got savagely beat by someone who seemed like he was trying out for mixed martial arts, and it is absolutely unacceptable," Harper said.
Pinnock was taken to County-USC Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.
The CHP officer involved in the incident is now on administrative leave.
