While some California cities have tried to ban digital billboards over safety and light pollution concerns, the number along Sacramento freeways may be about to double.

The city and the Sacramento Kings have cut a deal to add six of the boards in the next few years.

It's all part of the bigger contract between the city and the team for the downtown arena.

The city owns the land where the billboards would be.

The council is expected to vote on the whole arena package May 13.
