With the Sacramento highs expected to be in the upper 90s the next couple of days, you're being recruited to help the elderly.
The City of Sacramento's Older Adult Services division is launching a program intended to keep seniors from succumbing to the extreme heat.
Martha Patterson-Cohen is the coordinator and is looking for two-to-three person teams to voluntarily and routinely check on elders in their neighborhood.
"To make sure that they are cool enough, hydrated in the hot spells that we have," Patterson-Cohen said.
She says anyone participating in the Caring Neighbors program will get assistance in coordinating their group and dos and don'ts of helping elderly neighbors.
