The City of Sacramento has thousands of dollars to give back to people on a newly released list. You might be one of them.

The city is out with its annual list of people and business who are owed refunds or money from uncashed checks. 'So each year, we compile this list and give people an opportunity to claim their money,' says Dennis Kauffman who is with the City of Sacramento's Finance Department.

He says you have 60 days to file a claim if your name is on the list. 'California law allows cities that go through this legal process to then take ownership of the money after the sixty day period has elapsed.'

It goes back into the general fund and is lost to you for good.
