Civilian College Student Explains Why He Wore Military Uniform
Posted March 21st, 2014 @ 7:40am by KFBK News - Tom Cutler

A young man who was chastised, berated and threatened by veterans for wearing fatigues says he did so to honor service people -- not masquerade as one.

Joseph Scott never meant any harm.

"To those who I upset and made mad, I do apologize," Scott said.

The Delta College student says belonging to the military is a life long dream of his.

When he was confronted by an angry veteran, that veteran was arrested by Delta College Police, which set off a number of threats aimed at the department.

His grandfather tells News10 his grandson is sincere in his patriotism.

"If wanting to serve your country and love your country is a crime, he's guilty," his grandfather said.

Scott says he's working to pass the military entrance exams in the hopes of joining the military.

Scott's relatives served in World War I, World War II and Vietnam.
