When it comes to the immigration debate, a local congressman is helping to draw the line in the sand.

"The fact is our Southern border is wide open it is practically undefended and everybody knows it," Congressman Tom McClintock said.

McClintock of the 4th District has joined a chorus of GOP lawmakers who want to hold out on the President request for funding until the hearing process is changed and more national guard troops stations across the border.

Once the tide has turned, he says it will be time for a fence approved in 2006 and greater sanctions on business that hire illegal immigrants.

"The people with whom I talk are tired of excuses, they are tired of promises of future reforms," McClintock said.

So far, the White House does not seem interested in brokering a deal.
