Drivers who use the Highway 50 Watt Avenue off-ramp will have to take a detour over the next few days.

Starting tonight at 10 p.m., the off-ramp will be closed as crews work on the interchange project.

The off-ramp will be opened again at 5 a.m. each day.

Daniel Regan with the Sacramento County Department of Transportation says the project will reduce overall delay and improve access and saftey for pedestrians and bicyclists.

"One of the great features of the project is a bike path that's going to go from Folsom Boulevard up to La Riviera," Regan said. "And bicyclists won't have to get right on Watt Avenue, as it has a series of tunnels and it's a very innovative, unique sort of project."

If you use the Watt Avenue exit, you can use the detour off Howe Avenue and continue eastbound on Folsom Boulevard toward Watt Avenue.

The off-ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Wednesday.
