It's a continued focus. Sacramento County sheriff's deputies say they're slowly curbing prostitution along a portion of Watt Avenue.

"It has seemingly always been a problem," said Sergeant Lisa Bowman.

At least for a decade or two.  Bowman continued to say that her department has conducted three stings and made 52 arrests in the area of Watt, Auburn Blvd. and I-80 recently, hoping to send a message. Two were broad, netting people for everything from solicitation, theft, illegal drugs and counterfeiting. The other, targeted massage parlors.

"Hopefully we can get through the paperwork process and close some of these illegal businesses down," Bowman said.

She added that five juveniles were found engaged in prostitution but won't be charged after being deemed victims of human trafficking.

At least one was from out of the area.
