Attention all Davis shoppers: Don't forget that reusable bag.

Starting tomorrow, a ban on single-use plastic bags will go into effect and stores citywide will be required to charge a 10-cent fee for each paper one.

The law covers grocery stores, convenience stores, liquor stores and mini-marts.

Davis is the first city in our four-county region to institute a ban but more than 100 cities and counties across California have similar ordinances.

Bills to create a statewide ban on the single-use bags have failed in recent legislative sessions.
