Embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is asking for forgiveness.

Nearly two weeks after he was banned for life from the NBA for making racist comments, Sterling told CNN's Anderson Cooper he made a mistake and he's sorry.

In the interview which is scheduled to air Monday night, the 80-year-old Sterling said, quote, "Am I entitled to one mistake, am I after 35 years?"

He went on to say he's not a racist and that it's taken him so long to apologize because he was "emotionally distraught."
