A preliminary magnitude 3.0 earthquake hit eastern San Diego County Saturday. Its epicenter was outside Borrego Springs.  

The USGS reports the temblor hit at 5 p.m. and they put the epicenter about 9 miles southwest of the desert city.

Shaking was felt in San Diego, Chula Vista, Valley Center, and every East County city, but no reports came in of damage or of anyone being injured.
