California has reached a major milestone when it comes to organ and tissue donation.
Eleven million people have now registered under Donate Life California to be organ, eye and tissue donors. The agency says that makes it the largest registry in the nation, but we still need more sign ups.
Assembly Speaker John Perez, praises the cooperation with the DMV - which asks if you'd like a "pink dot" during renewals.
More donors will mean more success stories, like that of Folsom mom Katie Salcone and her son. He went into unexplained liver failure but thanks to a transplant. 'I get to watch him ride his bike. In the fall, he gets to start Kindergarten,' she says.
Donate Life says one donor can save eight lives, a tissue donor can impact 50 others.
