An environmental group is stepping up its efforts to ban fracking in California.
Patrick Sullivan with the Center for Biological Diversity says a letter has been sent to Governor Jerry Brown about a new report from the Energy Information Administration.
"The oil industry has made a lot of empty promises about the potential for oil development in this state. This new report has downgraded the estimate of recoverable oil by 96 percent," Sullivan said.
Sullivan says statistics shows there's no excuse to not see through the empty promises of the fracking industry.
Proponents of the process say fracking has been going on for decades and creates thousands of jobs.
