SACRAMENTO -- The Sacramento Kings receive a unwanted distinction from "ESPN: The Magazine."
The well-known magazine ranks the Kings as the worst professional sports franchise.
With criteria that typically include affordability, ownership and fan experience... the Kings made the cover of the newest issue, which hits stands Friday, as one-hundred twenty-second - and last - among teams from the NBA, NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball.
It's believed that the rankings were determined before a group led by Vivek Ranadive bought the team this summer, overhauled the front office and promised a new downtown arena. Since that time, the Kings have led the NBA in new and season ticket sales.
Check back with KFBK on Friday for more on the story when the newest issue of "ESPN: The Magazine" is released.

Even if they say we're the worst franchise, they can't say we have the worst fans. Sacramento fought to keep the Kings. See photos from the Kings rally earlier this year.
