Sac Sheriff's Dept. Says Fugitive Fire Chief May Have Sought Escorts in Escape

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department has some new leads on a Cal Fire battalion chief who is on the run after allegedly killing his lover.

And a lot of those leads are coming from his use of a website used to meet escorts.

"Orville Fleming has a predominant role in the website called MyRedBook," Sgt. Lisa Bowman said.

Bowman says that is actually where Fleming met the victim, 26-year-old Sarah Douglas.

"We do have information that support that our victim was working as an escort in the past, and that's exactly how they met two years ago," Bowman said.

Bowman says that the department has a list of individuals who may have been contacted by Fleming to seek assistance.

"And basically escaping the area or being held in the area," she said.

She says those people should come forward now or face criminal charges in the future.

Tips on this case continue to come into the department from as far away as Oregon.

While the search for Fleming continues, accusations against the victim continue to fly.

The wife of 55-year-old Orville Fleming tells News10 he was not a violent person.

"What I will tell you is the truth. I will speak the truth, I will say this man never laid a finger on me," she said.

Court records show that Meagan Fleming had also attempted to file a restraining order against the victim, 26-year-old Sarah Douglas.

"She came in my classroom ... in Fresno and hit me," she said.

Fleming calls Douglas a prostitute and claims that she was trying to blackmail the Flemings with a video of herself, the suspect and other firemen from the Ione Fire Academy having sex on a fire truck.

Authorities are asking that anyone with information regarding Orville Fleming's whereabouts or the details of this case to contact the Sacramento Sheriff's Department at 916.874.8477.
