Failed Kidnapping Attempt in Stockton Leads to Homicide
Posted September 2nd, 2014 @ 8:48am by KFBK News - James Rojas

Stockton Police detectives are investigating a kidnapping attempt and homicide, however, they're not getting a lot of help from neighbors.

Detectives are looking for three men -- one who attempted to abduct a little boy -- and two other suspects who shot and killed a man nearby.

This all happened on the 4500 block of Shelley Court inside an apartment complex Sunday night.

After failing to abduct the boy, police say the black male suspect ran toward the shooting victim's apartment. He got away.

Stockton police spokesman Joe Silva says that is when the homicide victim tried to calm down the crowd of neighbors.

"At which point, two Hispanic males, described in their early 20s, confronted the 44-year-old man, one pulled out a gun and shot and killed our homicide victim," Silva said.

Police do not have a motive for the shooting.

The kidnapping suspect is described as black, in his late 30s-to-40s.

Police are asking for witnesses to come forward with any information.
