They gave it all in the line of duty.

California's fallen peace officers were remembered today. 

Thirteen new names will be etched in bronze at a memorial at the State Capitol - eight from the last year and five from the past. 

Attorney General Kamala Harris, honoring, among others, Galt Police Officer Kevin Tonn and Loran Baker and Elizabeth Butler of Santa Cruz PD.

'We must never stop telling our stories, and we must never forget the families that they left behind,' says Santa Cruz Chief Kevin Vogel. 

Families were lead to the annual ceremony by Governor Brown, past hundreds of police and sheriffs' deputies, standing at attention.

'It's a very important calling,' stated Governor Brown. Especially he says, when there is so much that can drive us apart.
