A solo vehicle accident on Highway 50 left one man dead and shut down a highway offramp, slowing traffic in the area during the morning commute.

At about 6:20 am, a Nissan 350z, being driven by a 45-year-old male, traveled off the south roadway of U.S. 50 westbound at the 26th St. offramp, traveled up the embankment, and struck a concrete bridge pillar.

The impact of the collision trapped the solo occupant inside the vehicle.

The driver was declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The 26th St. off ramp remained closed until at 8:35 a.m. At one point, traffic was slowed all the way back to the Bradshaw Road exit.  Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor in this collision.

The South Sacramento CHP is seeking witnesses and information regarding this collision.
