The FBI says they've arrested a man suspected to be the "Bad Beard Bandit" - wanted for a string of bank robberies across Northern California.

Why do they call him the "Bad Beard Bandit?"

"The suspect wore an obviously false beard. People could see the glue on the sides even, so that was kind of different," said Sgt. Steve Merchant.

Merchant, with the Ripon Police Department, says the Bad Beard Bandit robbed a bank there back in November and continued to rob banks in cities like Tracy, Turlock, and Manteca, hitting a total of 8 during his spree.

Ripon police coordinated an investigation with the FBI, who eventually tracked down the suspect in Half Moon Bay.

"We're really happy to get this guy in custody, and we can't say enough good things about the FBI" Merchant said.
