FDA: Americans Taking too Much Acetaminophen

The FDA is warning that we may be taking too much Acetaminophen -- especially during flu season.

Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol, but is also in prescription pain medications such as Percocet and Vicodin.

The FDA says adults shouldn't take more than 4000 milligrams of Acetaminophen per day -- one of the reasons why drug companies were asked to reduce the amount they put in their pain meds to 325 milligrams per pill by the end of this month.

Too much Acetaminophen, over time, can lead to liver failure or death.
